Momentum

Posted on August, 19 2011

After the pains of the page comes the thrill of the hunt. No screenplay is truly ready until production starts, and even then, maybe not so much. As of now though, I feel we have something substantial enough to at least put on the table for talent, producers and management. One thing that I can not be faulted for is being closed minded. I am ready to work and make changes to make this the best property. At least now, I feel the project is at a place where I can open up this dialogue. Took a while to get to this point, but I am here.

The roads are open, we are just doing our best to make sure we are gased up and ready for the journey. I am on a mission to sell the vision for Mamma and I want to make sure that I have a strong product to offer. I spoke with someone a while back who saw the short film. This person, a very reputable person in the film business, said the key element that drew him into the film was the cast. He viewed it as one of my greastest strengths as a director. I want to achieve this with the feature project. I am looking to assemble a cast of strong Italian-American actors from the Independent Film Community, that will allow me to create a vast pallette of faces and personalites that will all coexist as a tight storytelling unit. I am looking for strong veteran presence to anchor the cast in key roles, while adding the energy of some of the wonderful actors that I have been so blessed to work with up to this point. We have begun reaching out to talent and we are hoping for more pieces to fall into place. One piece already has, and though not much can be said, we are thrilled.

Hopefully we can assemble a strong package over the next few months to put in front of the great contacts we have made at reputable production companies who are expecting the project.

NewFilmmakers-Spring 2011

Posted on April, 3 2011

With focus on developing our feature project, 2011 has been a bit slow for our little film thus far. Well, alas, some new news for Mamma! Just when we thought our festival run was finished, another door opens. We are pleased to be part of the upcoming NewFilmmakers 2011 Spring Festival. NewFilmmakers does a great deal on the East and West Coast to promote new voices in film and open up opportunities for them in terms of distribution and promotion. They are an all around wonderful outfit and we are truly excied that they were so kind to fit us into their program.

We will be screening on Wednesday April 6th at 6:30pm at the Anthology Film Archives. I will post any updates. Tickets will only be on sale day of.

Jury Prize- Brainwash Movies

Posted on August, 15 2010

It was just announced last night that we won the 1st place Jury Prize at this years Brainwash Movies Festival.

We are truly honored to have just been programmed at this festival and now to be awarded their Jury prize is too awesome for words. It was a festival we kept our eye on and always hoped to be a part of. Brainwash not only works hard to put on a great festival everyear (since 1995) but also to provide future opportunities for the filmmakers that take part in their festival. The good peeps at Brainwash gave Mamma a tremendous amount of support and more importantly the opportunity to screen in a Drive-In. This was very special to me as the first time I think that I actually fell in love with movies was at a Drive-In when I was three years old. I can close my eyes and still remember the smell of the pick on the dashboard and the sound of the rain assaulting the roof of my mother's old Datsun. Movie magic at it's best!

Here is a link to the Brainwash Site. Please check them out. They are true champions of Independent Cinema!
